Fang! Pet & Garden Supply

This mural resides at Fang! Pet & Garden Supply, a beloved neighborhood shop in Kenton known for its warmth and community focus. Previously, its street-facing 40' x 20' wall was subject to frequent tagging (what blank wall isn't?) and was just generally begging for some artwork to brighten it up and promote brand visibility. I set out to capture the exuberance of a garden in full bloom alive with romping, buzzing, pecking, and fluttering.

Design

The store's owner gave me full license to lean into my playful aesthetic. With this in mind, I knew that I wanted to create lovable, slightly (okay, very) derpy characters enveloped in joyful colors. Anchored by a giant cat, dog, and chicken, the design wraps around several physical obstacles—an electrical box, a doorway, and wood patches—for a seamless full-bleed effect. Ripe tomatoes suggest nourishment and abundance, while bugs celebrate the belonging of all creatures, big and small, to the garden ecosystem.
